Scuba Diving help please?
im currently the age of 13 and mum dad and myself are going on a holiday to Queensland we decided to skip the theme parks and go up near cains.
we have all decided we would like to go to the Great Barrier Reef, i was wondering what kind of licenses i will need to go scuba diving with a group and also were i could take the courses currently i live on the great ocean road is there any around were i live ?
I'm sure there are places near you to take your Open Water course.
I'm not sure where "Ocean Road" is, but if you use an online tool like PADI's Dive Shop Locater here: http://www.padi.com/scuba/locate-a-padi-dive-shop/default.aspx or NAUI's one here:http://www.naui.org/trainer_locator_details.aspx?id=1031
you'll find one very close to where you live.
What you'll want is what's called a Junior Open Water Certificate. As for your Parents, they'll want a Open Water cert. It'll take a week or so at home with classroom and pool instruction, exams and your final open water assessments.
With these certifications, your parents or guardians may take you diving to your maximum depth of about 40 feet. Don't quote me on that depth limit but I believe it's fairly accurate. They may go to 60 themselves as they are adults. Once you're 15 your Junior OW cert will convert to an adult one and you can dive with any other certified diver that's not a parent or DM/Instructor and you too can go to 60 feet. Until then…you're with either of those two and limited depth. The good news here…..the best things to see on a living reef are within your reach as a junior open water diver as a rule.
There is an alternate way of doing all this if the resort or dive operation you stay with permits. Some operators offer a sort of "try before you buy" or "reef experience" program. You'll get some basic instruction and dive under the supervision of an Instructor in a safe environment. Not every location offers this though.
You're still better off getting your certs at home and then diving at your destination. You get more diving in for your buck. You won't be stuck in a classroom or learning things in a pool on your vacation at first. You'll be diving the reefs instead and have no worries.
Where should i go on holiday?
I'm 16 and I'm trying to plan a summer holiday for my mom,dad my best friend and me. I'm choosing the destination, booking the flights, picking the accommodation and stuff to do while we're there. My Mom said she'd like a beach holiday, maybe somewhere in Spain. Can anybody help? I want a place close to theme parks, zoos or marine parks and of course the beach. I'd love to go swimming with dolphins or scuba diving or hot ballooning or something fun like that!

thinking about a holiday to Hawaii?
Just wondering if anyone knew good places to go to, that I can get flights to, from Gatwick in London?
Preferably somewhere I can do scuba diving!
Maui (OGG) or Kauai (LIH)
The majority of US bound flights depart from Heathrow. You might get lucky and be able to score a one stop itinerary via LAX or SFO. You'll have a ton of options with two stops, especially if you don't mind transferring at Honolulu where the lion's share of Hawaii bound flights arrive.

Thai Beaches – Ao Nang Beach – Sunset – Evening – Krabi – Thailand – Praias da Tailandia
Anoitecendo na praia de Ao Nang, em Krabi, Tailandia.Um paraiso.Ao Nang is a central point of the coastal province of Krabi, Thailand. The town consists chiefly of a main street, which is dominated by restaurants, pubs, shops and other commerce aimed at tourists. The main beach is used by sunbathers to a certain extent, but there are hundreds of longtail boats which offer access to other beaches on the mainland and on nearby islands.
There are a number of scuba diving centres, most of which offer basic diving courses. The islands outside Ao Nang are relatively easy to access and uncrowded compared to many of the diving sites around Phi Phi Island. Climbing is another activity widely available through centres in Ao Nang, although most of the climbs are actually in the areas around the Railay, Tonsai and Phra Nang beaches.
The main beach at Ao Nang is the main departure point for boats to a number of places, including the nearby resort of Railay (or Rai Leh), which cannot be accessed by road, Poda Island and Chicken Island.See
Fossil Shell Beach (Thai Su-san Hoi, literally “Seashell Graveyard”). Some 7 km west of Ao Nang, this mildly traplike tourist attraction has slates of compressed 40 million year old shellfish, which bear not a small resemblance to concrete. There’s also a small grubby museum and a huge slew of gift shops. Entry is a steep 200 baht for foreigners – but only 20 baht for Thais. This Tourist Trap is simply not worth the 200 Baht you have to pay as tourists unless maybe if you are a geology student.
Nopparat Thara Beach. Picturesque beach at the western tip of Ao Nang, zoned as a national park. During low tide you can walk up to some of the nearby craggy limestone islands. However ask the locals if it is ‘jellyfish season’ before plunging in if you are the only one getting ready to take a dip.Rock Climbing
Climbing can be arranged through Ao Nang agencies who will arrange transfers, lunch, and as much climbing as your limbs can handle – alternatively, simply wander over to Rai Leh or Ton Sai and organize an introductory course yourself.
Ao Nang Climbers, [www.aonangclimbers.com]. Will give you all the information and courses from beginner to expirienced climber; children are very welcome.
[edit] Scuba diving
Most of the dive shops offer a very similar price for the dive courses and dive trips. You may get a slight discount if you are a group of 4 but not much more than 10%. Sites visited daily include the local islands in Ao Nang bay, Phi Phi Marine National Park, the King Cruiser Wreck site and Shark Point Marine sanctuary. It’s now also possible to do a one day safari by speedboat to Hin Daeng and Hin Muang for the chance to see whale sharks and manta rays, or to do some spectacular cavern diving at the 5 islands of Ko Ha Yai. However speed boats are not the most comfortable way to travel unless the sea is very calm and there can be problems finding shade. Some of the more popular dive sites can become very crowded in the high season

Hi All, I Am going to Maldives for holiday!?
Can anybody tell me which resorts is the best and cleanest? I want those can see the sea on the bottom type, also me and my wife do not hold any scuba diving cert but we do have some fun diving experience, we like to dive in maldives is it safe? Is Swine flu there too?
Maldives is a world destination for Scuba Diving. I have never been there, but as far as I know there are quite a few live-aboard operators there. Have a look at the website below. If you can Try to get your Certification for Scuba. Without Certification it is limited how much Diving you would be able to do. You cab do the complete certification in Maldives. There are nice resorts in Maldives. Check the second website below.
