If I were you I wouldn't because you still cant swim to well and its different when your using a regulator rather than just swimming in a pool……….Also, you will be out in the ocean… it all depends if your comfortable out there

Some of these answers scare me …

You must be a confident swimmer to dive, happy in deep water, and not to panic if things go wrong.

If you're not confident, stick to snorkelling — lots of the good stuff is right near the surface, and you can always use a flotation vest. Don't try diving until you're happy snorkelling with 30 feet of water below you. There was a time in the UK when divers weren't allowed to start on scuba until they had shown proficiency with the basic kit: mask, snorkel and fins. For some reason they dropped that rule.

My advice is don't waste money on something you might end up pulling out of. And remember that if you're not happy in the water, you're potentially putting others at risk.

For the sake of scubaing when you said you can swim a few laps before getting tired you are more then quilified to go scubaing. I mean its not like you will be working hard and you will have fins on which will help propel you through the water eaisier. I am lifeguard certified and we did a little excersive with all the scuba gear on and even the kids that couldnt swim for their lives did well. the scuba gear will have all the tools you need.
But let me say this, you will be in the best shape of your life when you see a shark comming at you lol . have fun.

neither am i but i still dive…. its good to make sure in shape…. do what every you think you can do and be sure to tell your instructor
