I am a novice diver planning on going to Key Largo in mid October or early November to Key Largo with a friend who is an expert diver.

My question is: Would the weather permit for good scuba/snorkeling at that time, and would I be risking hurricanes?

If I go during that time should I get a trip/hotel cancellation insurance just in case if there is a major storm?

The weather should be fine for snorkel and scuba but if you are a pansy (like me) the water may be a little cool in November so you may want to bring a wetsuit. Peak hurricane season is in Sept. In October we usually in Fla feel we "made it" but did get whacked by Wilma a few years back in late Oct. November though still in " hurricane season" is not likely to produce a hurricane. I have lived in South Fla over 20 years and would not worry about a hurricane on a trip to the keys nor buy trip insurance since the odds are way way in your favor you will not be troubled. Have fun.
